A woman at a major Manhattan hospital kept making complaints to the young interns and residents who treated her in the New York city medical clinic. To their credit, they ordered the correct tests to evaluate her shortness of breath and wheezing. However, the young doctors-in-training failed to correctly interpret her clinical findings and the CT scans they had obtained. By the time she was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, it was too late to help her and she died from unrecognized and misdiagnosed widespread lung cancer.
